FLIGHTS OF FANTASY!

Students create their own vision of FLIGHT for a Visual Arts Exhibition for primary schools.
Singapore Airlines is celebrating the arrival of the new A380 Airbus flying daily into Melbourne and the arrival a new baby elephant at the Royal Melbourne Zoo with a primary students’ art program!
Selected student artworks will be displayed by Singapore International Airlines.

AWARDS INCLUDE:

  • A tour of the new A380 Aircraft at Melbourne Airport (a whole class excursion, transport provided)
  • 2 return tickets to Singapore for the school to use for fund raising (Economy class, excluding taxes/surcharges)
  • A visit to see the new baby Asian elephant at the Royal Melbourne Zoo (a whole class excursion, transport provided)
  • Art materials to the value of $500.

TEACHERS, HOW DO YOU GET YOUR STUDENTS INVOLVED?

  1. Send your EXPRESSION OF INTEREST.
  2. During October, your students create their own artwork based on the theme of FLIGHT on A3 size paper, in any painting, drawing or collage medium or any 2 dimensional mixed media.
  3. Place the student’s name, class, school name and teacher’s name on the BACK of each art work
  4. Include a covering note from the class with the art teacher’s name, principal’s name and school phone number.
  5. Artworks to be received by 6th November 2009 at Suite 1, 20 Wangara Road, Sandringham, Victoria 3191

Notifications of Awards will be by telephone on 18th November, 2009. Suitable dates for the excursions will be by arrangement.

REGISTRATIONS NOW OPEN

Be energised and inspired by the Visual Arts of, or influenced by, Asia. Explore rich and diverse contemporary and traditional cultures.

This conference will provide inspirations and approaches to the visual arts of Asia. Teachers will have the opportunity to develop understandings of Asia and the contexts within which art is made.

  • Hear from artists influenced by Asian art practice as well as artists from Asia.
  • Experience hands-on practical workshops, watch demonstrations and listen to presentations about the visual arts of Asia.
  • Engage with teachers and schools involved with studies of Asia.
  • Explore resources and materials available for teachers.

Teachers will leave this conference with confidence, ideas, understandings, approaches and inspiration to incorporate the visual arts of Asia into their teaching programs.

FRIDAY & SATURDAY - 23 & 24 October 2009
Venue: SOUTH OAKLEIGH Secondary College, Visual Arts Department
Registration: 8.30am. Conference program: 9.00am – 4.30pm both days
