Carnival Clown
28cm x 19cm Multiple coloured reduction lino print
After brainstorming the theme of carnival, I generated a wide range of ideas.
I refined these to a simple idea of the head of a single laughing clown.
I was inspired by a visit to a fairground where I saw the strange heads whose
open mouths you throw balls into to win a prize. I took photographs of my
mother and used Adobe Photoshop to create a brightly coloured and simplified
four-layer image. I used this image to produce a multi-coloured reduction
lino print. I attempted to create an image that showed the old style of carnival
entertainment.
