‘Magic’
Photographic paper.
Inspiration for this image came near a billabong along the Murray River. Some say water is the element associated with emotions and the feminine. Indeed, I felt deeply soothed by the waters I encountered there in various forms.
The river, full and fast, with constant flows of energy and moving forwards. At the billabong however, I sat and reflected a while on the image staring back through its smooth mirror-like surface.
It was the dewdrops dripping like tears from the long, sharp blades of windblown reeds that enchanted me the most. The moist reeds in varying shades of greens and browns with overlapping fronds of tapering lines to pointed tips, served as a metaphor for the balance achieved through the entangling of pleasurable and painful life experiences.
