‘Untitled’
Black and white photography.
Before shooting this image, I found inspiration from Joseph Ortenzi’s simple ‘Bent Rose’ photograph, which to me symbolised beauty even after distortion. From this I wanted to create a contrasting image – thus the idea of a rose growing from stones. This photograph explores the design elements of natural patterns and texture – curves of petals, water droplets, surface of stones… It was taken using studio light and was then manipulated in the darkroom, changing the filters.
