G TRIMBOLI
St. Columba’s College Year 12
‘Red Rose’
70cm x 38cm x 70cm. Ceramic, acrylic paint, timber.
Throughout Year 12, I spent a lot of time working with clay and enjoyed the ways I could arrange and manipulate forms of flowers and leaves, changing them to suit my mood or feelings. Focusing on the idea of the way people perceive an object, I wanted to have a number of forms all left natural but contrasting with one that had been coloured. When arranging my piece I purposely placed the coloured object off centre to show it in some way was just as important as the other objects. To achieve the bright rich colour I used red ink and brown applied on the clay, rather than using a ceramic glaze.
