‘My Gentle Fairy’
50cm x 35cm. Air-drying clay, fabric, natural materials, wood, dried flowers, paints.

In term two we learnt about May Gibbs, She discovered bush babies in the gum trees. Then we had an idea about creating little creatures that looked like fairies and elves. First we created a lovely face using clay. Then we painted leaves on fabric and put special paint for the veins of the leaves. Then Ms Rubio showed us how to use the hot glue gun to stick the parts of the body. We had to do everything very carefully and she was standing near us to help. Then we brought a 20cm base to school to use as the stand for our fairy. We put our fairy together and decorated the hair using little beads and little dried flowers. I decided to use some of the painted fabric leaves and wire for the wings. When I decorated the body I used real leaves and the fabric leaves I had painted before. I chose a branch that looked like moving arms for my fairy’s arms and my fairy looked like it was dancing. I loved it! I think my fairy is great, is nice and I really like it.
