‘Flowing Fragments of Memory’
70cm x 30cm. Mixed media - deconstructed photographs, digital images, magazine fragments, pva glue, hot glue, shellac, paint.
In my work this year I explored the dualities of growth and decay, particularly in relation to memory. I wanted to express how fragments of memory flower in our imagination, through childhood dreams, rhymes, songs, stories, games and play. Memories of childhood were deconstructed and reconfigured to signify aspects of growth, distortion, degeneration and new growth. I wanted to express something of the cyclic, magical nature of life.
