This picture tells the story of the Melbourne Cup. I chose to do this scene because it was what everyone was talking about at the time. I think it tells two stories. One is about the jockeys and their lives. The large jockey is obviously the winner. The other story is about the crowd. They could be winners or losers. I used pastels and thought the range of colours was good for the topic.
