Merging Beauty
21cm x 84cm. Paper, cobweb paper, rice paper and ink.
The butterfly and apple are different in many respects but are related through shapes and the environment. Through metamorphosis I wanted to show the connection between butterflies and apples. I used pen and ink on rice paper because of the transparent qualities, thus revealing the text underneath which was selected for its relation to nature's beauty. Five different colours of cobweb paper were used to represent the striking colours found in nature. I juxtaposed two forms of communication; the written word and the story told through line alone.
