Childhood Memories

After returning from an exchange year overseas I wanted to explore what was important to me in Australia. This idea resulted in a series of collages.
'Childhood Memories' is a montage of images from my childhood in semi-rural New Gisborne. I wanted to create a relaxed and happy air so I used mainly bright primary colours. I also wanted to explore texture, so I used a range of materials - from corrugated paper to smooth gouache. The phrase "for we are young and free" seemed to sum up what I appreciate about Australia and what I particularly enjoyed in my childhood.
